Shakespeare in the Vines
2010 Performance a great success

A Perfect Evening at Rowanston on the Track

Great food, an excellent theatrical performance, award winning wine, and a perfect summer evening all combined to provide a evening to remember at Rowanston on the Track an Saturday 30 January. The multi-talented cast from Essential Theatre gave the 280 audience members a wonderful reminder of how relevant Shakespearean plots remain in today's world. While the plot of “The Comedy of Errors” remains relevant, some of the dialogue lacked today's political correctness which added to the humour and greatly entertained the audience.

“Comedy of Errors” contains mistaken identity, mistreatment of servants, a near seduction, an unjust arrest, accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, infidelity, demonic possession, but true love triumphs. Sounds just like an average day in Heathcote, doesn't it?

The performances of the lead characters, Jamie McDonald and Sophie Lampel who each played 2 characters were energetic and faultless. The 8 remaining players between them played an additional 13 characters which included the most entertaining town jeweller, a Chopper Reed look-alike,just one of the modern touches introduced into this Shakespearean adaptation.

You can call Rowanston on 5425 5592 or email info@rwanston.com to ensure that you are contacted about the 2011 Shakespeare in the Vines when Essential Theatre will present “Romeo and Juliet” in the delightful garden setting at Rowanston.

Watch out for the 2011 Essential Theatre Company Performance of Romeo and Juliet January 29, 2011 at Rowanston on the Track Winery
